Czech Republic: Budget Travel Guide

EuroCheapo’s guide to saving on your trip to the Czech Republic!

The Czech Republic enchants travelers with a range of offerings that seem plucked from a storybook: Rolling hills and unspoiled nature, cobblestone alleyways through moody Medieval towns, hearty lunches of dumplings washed down with beer… Set between Europe’s west and east, the Czech Republic manages to bring the two regions together into one easily explored territory.

Happily for budget travelers, visiting the Czech Republic can also be very affordable, especially when compared to nearby Austria, Switzerland and southern Germany. Especially for visitors to areas outside of Prague, most travel-related expenses, from meals to hotel rooms, will be noticeably cheaper.

Prague, on the other hand, has seen its popularity with tourists skyrocket since the country’s “Velvet Revolution”, the peaceful transition of power in 1989 that saw the end of Communism in Czechoslovakia (and would lead to the division of the country four years later). However, even Prague’s higher prices are relatively cheaper than those in other European capital cities. (Read much more about this in our Prague guide.)

Stick with EuroCheapo — we’ll show you how to make the most of budget Bohemia!
