The Hotel Abril is a friendly spot in the center of town. Tucked away on a small street a few blocks from Metropol Parasol, this two-star charmer makes a cheery, convenient home base.

The Abril’s 20 guestrooms have undergone renovations in recent years and now sport fabric headboards, wicker furnishings, and bold tones of red, yellow, and teal. Guests will also enjoy air conditioning, a telephone and flat-screen TV. Some rooms have balconies and windows facing the street, although the quieter rooms face an interior patio. The clean private bathrooms are outfitted with shower/tub combos and decorated in white with vibrant tiles.

Stained glass brightens the foyer, stairwells and hallways. The Abril also offers assorted seating areas and a bright interior patio filled with plants and wicker furniture.

A continental breakfast buffet is available for an extra fee.Wi-Fi is free throughout and an Internet station is available in the lobby for a fee.

La Alameda, with its edgy vibe and nightlife scene, is made for late night revellers. The neighborhood may be in the throes of gentrification at the hands of trendy young professionals, but it retains its rough edges and party-friendly feel.
