Cheap hotels near Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France
One of the most recognizable landmarks in Paris, the majestic Arc de Triomphe sits on the western end of the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and is a neoclassical monument to those who have fought for France. Built between 1806-1836, it serves as a grand symbol for the country. At 50 meters tall, it’s truly a monument that cannot be missed.
Of interest to tourists is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, added in 1921, and its flame, which is relit every night at 6:30 p.m.
The Arc’s rooftop offers grand vistas of Paris from all directions. The roof, and the museum and exhibits within the Arc de Triomphe, are open daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. (10:30 p.m. during the winter). The cost of admission is €8 (€5 reduced).
Note that you should exercise caution getting to the Arc. As tempting as it may seem, do not run through the traffic circle to access the monument. The only (legal) way to arrive is through an underground tunnel, which can be accessed from the “Wagram” Metro exit, or through an entrance along the Avenue de la Grande Armée.
Hotels near the Arc de Triomphe: As you can see on this page, cheap hotels near the Arc de Triomphe are hard (but not impossible) to come by. This area is not budget-friendly at all—in fact, one gets the impression that it’s quite proud of itself for not being budget friendly. However, we do have one pick, the Chalgrin, located in the posh streets just behind the monument.
If you’re willing to go a few stops on the Metro, you could find many more hotel options in the neighborhood around the Eiffel Tower, which really isn’t that far away. Your next best bet, a straight shot on the Metro, would be to stay in the neighborhood near the Louvre, which offers plenty of affordable sleeping options.
