The Arsenale Naval Museum, located in Castello, offers visitors a history lesson in Venice’s naval past.
Once considered an important shipyard, the Arsenale started producing Venice’s ships in an assembly-line manner in the early 12th-century. It quite literally fortified the city as a secure trading power in the Mediterranean.
