Belle Blue Zentrum

Never before have we been so happy to catch a case of the blues. This snappy three-star, located a one-minute walk south of the station on Schillerstrasse, offers 30 rooms in excellent shape with an easy-to-articulate decorative scheme: blue.

The nicely renovated rooms at the Belle Blue tick off all the boxes: They offer air conditioning, TV, free Wi-Fi, minibar and a telephone. All are equipped with their own private bathroom with shower and hair dryer. But it’s the color scheme that’s worth noting here. Bedroom walls are various shades of blue, and the nicely renovated baths sport some attractive deep-blue mosaic tiling.

Although rooms have solid soundproofing, light sleepers should ask for one of the rooms facing the courtyard (half face Schillerstrasse, which gets a steady stream of traffic). Also note that this street is lined with cheap eats and a couple of slightly seedy stores catering to “adults”--but it’s also quite safe and packed with other hotels. The hotel’s location, less than a minute to the station, is one of the city’s most convenient.

One more plus: The Belle Blue offers complimentary coffee and tea, along with prosecco and mulled wine, throughout the day in its lobby. A breakfast buffet is available for €8.
