Walking around Bruges

As long as you're not overburdened with chocolates or luggage, your walking shoes are the best way to see Bruges. Most main attractions are within a five- to 15-minute walk of each other. We recommend the main tourism office at the Concert Bowl (Concertgebouwl, 't Zand) as a starting point, where you can pick up free do-it-yourself walking tours and itineraries. Grab a map and get moving!

Boats in Bruges

You've seen it in films, those whimsical boats that tour the city by water. Tours are typically a half hour and give you a great ducks-eye-view of the center of Bruges. An individual ticket costs €6.90 (Children 4-11 years €3.20, children under 4 are free). Groups of 20 or more people receive discounted tickets.

Buses in Bruges

There are limited city bus stops in Bruges, but enough at the major hubs (like Markt Square and the train station) to give travelers a respite when the feet have had enough. Another option is to take a City Tour coach bus tour of Bruges. Tickets are available on-line and in person. Adult tickets are €11.50, children are €6, and families of 4 (2 children, 2 adults) are €30. Visit the web site for more details.

Bicycles in Bruges

Bruges can be a very bicycle-friendly place. For one, there are loads of rental places in the city center and many streets that serve cyclists with two-way lanes.

Bikes will run you between €4 to 7 an hour. Full day fares are the way to go at a rate of €9-10. Some bike rentals offer a 24-hour rate for around €30. Koffieboontje seems to be the most popular rental company, with an office near the main bell tower.
