Situated inside a 19th-century mansion, Hostal Callejon del Agua is a sleek guesthouse in the bustling center of Seville. It may have the smallest interior patio in town, but the Callejon provides a nice respite from the busy cobblestoned streets just outside its doors.

The 16 guestrooms sport crisp, clean designs. The walls and lampshades are striped, and the metal headboards have a floral design. All are equipped with standard amenities, including air conditioning, a television, phone and minibar. Some rooms have small balconies overlooking Calle Corral del Rey, while others have windows looking out to an adjacent alley.

The bathrooms are tiled in white and burgundy, and some have windows with heavy black shutters.

Rooms are spread out over three floors, and the hotel has an elevator. A small roof terrace offers views of the cathedral’s tower.

Complimentary coffee and tea are available all day in the lobby. Breakfast is not served, but there are many cafés, restaurants and tapas bars very near the hotel. Wi-Fi is free throughout.

El Centro

Centro is, not surprisingly, Seville's hub, anchored by Plazas San Francisco and Nueva. There are Shopping streets, churches, museums, restaurants, cafés and boutiques aplenty here. Another highlight is the Museo de Bellas Artes—or Fine Arts Museum—with its outstanding collection of works by Murillo, Valdés Leal, Zurbarán and other Sevillean masters.

For visitors who must be the center of the action, El Centro is the place to be. Note, though, that because it's so in demand it's also not cheap. Hotels, hostals and restaurants are all a bit more expensive in El Centro. Other hallmarks: loud cathedral bells, an absence of Internet cafés, and the obligatory Starbucks.
