Cheap hotels near Carnegie Hall in New York, United States
Built by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie in 1891, Carnegie Hall is one of the city’ best-known music halls. It’s situated in Midtown, at Seventh Avenue and 57th Street.
The building is known for its incredible acoustics, and until 1962, it was the resident house for the New York Philharmonic. (That company has now moved to Lincoln Center). Today, Carnegie still hosts a dizzying range of concerts, from touring orchestras to rapper Jay-Z and folkster Bob Dylan.
One of the oldest jokes in the book asks, “Sir, can you tell me how to get to Carnegie Hall?” Sir replies: “Practice!” Of course, if you just want to take in a show at Carnegie Hall, simply visit the Carnegie Hall Web site or stop by their box office.
