Art Hotel Charlottenburger Hof Berlin

Mondrian, Miró, Kandinsky and company inspire the Art Hotel Charlottenburger Hof’s 46 colorful rooms. Conveniently located across from the Charlottenburg S-Bahn station, this three-star gem offers enough flair to make up for its slightly seedy surroundings.

The Art Hotel Charlottenburger Hof offers a variety of room types, each jazzed up with splashes of red, yellow and blue. Expect small desks and framed modern art posters. Some rooms are snug, but they’re so well-designed that they don’t feel cramped. Over-sized windows offer views of busy Stuttgarter Platz or the ivy-covered courtyard.

All rooms are equipped with a safe, satellite TV, phone and (wait for it) a computer with Internet. Three “Comfort” doubles also offer a balcony. Guests on a budget can opt for an “Economy” single or double, which is just like a “Standard” room only a bit smaller (and cheaper). The hotel also has a handful of triple and “Family” rooms, which sleep up to five people. We were impressed that one dorm-like room with four single beds had space for a red suede couch.

The majority of rooms at the Art Hotel Charlottenburg Hof are non-smoking, but there are eight rooms reserved for smokers.

The decent-sized private bathrooms are spic-and-span. All offer a hair dryer and toiletries, and the Comfort rooms boast a luxurious Jacuzzi.

Although it’s geared towards business travelers, the Art Hotel Charlottenburg Hof boasts a warm staff that will make everyone feel at home. Free coffee and tea are available throughout the day in the lounge, and the hotel’s Café Voltaire is a cheery spot that serves up tasty eats 24 hours a day. It offers outdoor seating, both on the street and in the tranquil courtyard.  

In addition to free wired Internet on the in-room computers, the hotel offers free Wi-Fi throughout. Café Voltaire serves breakfast buffet to hotel guests only (for a fee) from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m.
