Hotel Charly

The bright and charming Charly Hotel is run by Carla, Franca and the rest of the friendly family. Its convenient location near the train station and reasonable rates are certainly pluses, but this warm three-star spot is much more than a budget hotel — you’ll feel like you’re coming home here.

Attention to design is evident throughout the Charly Hotel. Even the light fixtures and art posters in the 20 mid-sized guestrooms have been carefully selected. Floral wallpaper and shades of rose and seafoam green lend a “country kitchen” feel, and all rooms are outfitted with soundproof windows, air conditioning, TV with international channels and phone.

Several rooms overlook the expansive garden out back, where guests are welcome to enjoy breakfast (included in the room rate) or simply lounge about. (We managed to lose ourselves for a few sweet moments among the flowers.) A few rooms even have private balconies on the second floor (ask when booking). 

Some rooms have private bathrooms, while the cheapest rooms share facilities. Both shared and private baths are mid-sized and well-maintained.

The Charly Hotel’s common areas sport an elaborate burlesque aesthetic, replete with vintage chandeliers, vivid red carpet and Art-Nouveau banisters.

The hotel’s location, on a quiet street just off the buzzing Buenos Aires shopping strip (and within walking distance of the central station), is another big plus.

Wi-Fi is free in the rooms, and the free breakfast includes a nice selection of pastries and espresso drinks.
