Housed in a pretty 19th-century building very near the spa-heavy Margit Island, the three-star City Hotel Ring features lots of amenities in its 39 standard rooms.

The words “fresh,” “clean” and “functional” about sum up the rooms here. Think crisp white bed coverings, curtains in neutral colors and non-descript wooden furniture. All rooms are equipped with satellite television, air conditioning, phone and mini-fridge.

The City Hotel Ringl is less than a five-minute walk from Nyugati train station, and a ten-minute walk to the Danube and Margit Island. Surrounding restaurants, theaters, and cafés give the area a charming feel. While the hotel is technically in the Ujlipotvaros neighborhood, the feel of the area is more aligned with the adjacent Lipotvaros 'hood.

The City Hotel Ring is part of the Taverna Hotels & Resorts chain in Budapest, which includes City Hotel Matyas and City Hotel Pilvax.

Lipotvaros

Situated north of Belváros, Lipótváros feels like central Pest's airier cousin. Here the streets are wider, the buildings grander and the térs (squares) are vaster.

Wider walkways showcase Budapest's famous "all-inclusive" architecture scene. The Baroque-meets-gothic Parliament sits across the street from the Ethnographical Museum, which merges elements of Renaissance, Baroque and Classic styles. And the nearby Ministry of Culture is built in the city's 19th-century Historicism style.
