Dam Square, considered the “town square” of Amsterdam’s city center, is where it’s at. “Dam Platz” (as it's called in Dutch) is situated in the middle of the Old Center.
The square serves as an easy meeting point for groups, and hosts several outdoor events each year. Notable buildings, including the Royal Palace, National Monument and famous Nieuwe Kerk are all located around the square.
From the square, visitors can easily reach popular museums, transportation links or just find a convenient cafe, restaurant or bar.
Hotels near Dam Square (Platz): There’s a good variety of hotels (and houseboats!) around Dam Platz. Staying in the heart of the action in the Old Center can be a cinch with a cheap sleep.
