Geneva is an international center and the transportation hub for most of French-speaking Switzerland. This translates to very easy access into and out of the city.
Getting Into Geneva
Arriving by Plane
The Geneva International Airport is located just four kilometers (about two miles) from the city center and easily connected to it.
The train station is easily accessed on the Check-in and Arrival levels of the airport, and run from 5:15 a.m. until just after midnight. The journey between the airport and the Cornavin train station takes just six minutes. Several bus lines also run between the airport and various points in the city.
Tickets cost the same as all other public transit (CHF 3), but visitors to Switzerland are entitled to free public transit access. You can get a temporary transit pass, good for 80 minutes, at the machines in the baggage claim area. You’ll receive your Geneva Transport Card upon checking in at your hotel (see our Getting Around guide for more information).
Taxis from the airport cost between CHF 30 and CHF 35, but expect to pay an additional fee for luggage.

Arriving by Train
Geneva’s train station, Gare de Cornavin, is located in the Right Bank District of Paquis, very close to a number of hotels and attractions and within a 20-minute walk of Old Town. It’s a major travel hub, with train service to and from various Swiss cities and beyond.

Arriving by Bus
Both local and international buses arrive into and depart from Gare Routière. The bus station is located in the Right Bank, not far from the Cornavin train station, and is well-serviced by local buses and trams that run throughout the city.
