The three-star Harding Hotel offers 52 basic but clean rooms that are especially big for Dublin.

All rooms are equipped with a telephone, TV, free Wi-Fi, and private bathrooms. They also feature refrigerators, a perk that's hard to find in Dublin.

The Harding Hotel is located a five-minute walk from Temple Bar—close enough for easy access but far enough away to allow guests to feel just slightly more grown up than the Temple Bar hostel kids. Well over half of the rooms here offer stellar views of Christ Church Cathedral, just across the street.

The Harding’s Darkey Kelly Restaurant and Bar serves up hearty pub fare along with live music on most evenings. English, continental and vegetarian breakfasts are available, although not included in the room price.

Located south of the Liffey, the area around Christ Church Cathedral—with its cobblestoned streets and imposing architecture—is a great home base for those wanting to sleep among history. The stunning cathedral dates back to the 11th century, although the present-day version reflects a number of changes over the years, including a late 19th-century "Victorianization." Its finely manicured grounds attract lounging locals and tourists alike.

The neighborhood also provides easy access to Dublin Castle, the "not-really-a-castle" castle from which the British ruled until 1922. And then, of course, there’s the Guinness Brewery (a house of worship to some), a little further west along the river.
