A former horse-and-carriage entrance leads into the pretty Hotel Alcántara, an 18th-century palace that was converted into a two-star hotel in 2001. Nestled inside the high walls of the Santa Cruz Jewish quarter, the hotel shares a building with a flamenco salon. Olé!

The Alcántara’s 21 rooms have a homey feel, with parquet floors, floral curtains and colorful striped throw pillows. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, telephone and free Wi-Fi. The spotless private bathrooms tiled in white tile, with blue trim outlining the mirrors and ceilings.

The hotel’s lobby leads into a bright interior patio. Guests can enjoy breakfast here or in their rooms (either way, it costs an additional fee).

Note that the carriage entrance can be busy in the evenings when guests arrive for flamenco shows.
