A Room with a Loo: 4 budget hotels with great bathrooms in Barcelona

Look closely. Is that a TV in the bathroom of the Hotel Lleo? You betcha! Photos: EuroCheapo and Booking.com

The WC, loo, bathroom, restroom, toilet or in Spanish, servicios. How important is the loo to you when you travel? Personally, it’s a pretty important feature and can make or break my hotel experience.

When looking for cheap hotels in Barcelona (and all over Europe) you will come across many hostals and pensions which offer shared bathrooms. Note that this will not be exactly like a youth hostel experience, in that you may only share the bathroom with one other room. The point is, if you want a private bathroom,  you will pay more.

In effort to help all of you who want a pristine WC, we offer our Barcelona cheapo list of Best Bathrooms. Here goes:

Hello BCN Hostal

The Hello BCN Hostel offers clean and efficient shared bathrooms.

Hello BCN Hostel
Doubles: €60-100

This is a backpacker style hostel in Poble Sec, but, its bathrooms are excellent and made for lots of traffic. No gross, hair-clogged showers here! And no waiting thanks to all the stalls, sink space and showers.

Hotel Lleo

The quality of the Hotel Lleo’s bathrooms exceeds that of the hotel itself.

Hotel Lleo
Doubles: €80-120

Well, Lleo’s busy location is not my favorite, as it can be a tad on the noisy side. The bathrooms are top-notch though, with lots of amenities.

Banys Orientals

The Banys Orientals’ bathrooms take the cake when it comes to style.

Banys Orientals
Doubles: €100-105

On a fun and artsy street in the Born barri, this hotel scores points for being stylish, centrally located, and amenity-rich. Bathrooms are modern and some even have bathtubs!

Hosteria Grau Hosteria Grau

Hosteria Grau offers great bathrooms (and beds, of course!) for budget travelers.

Hosteria Grau
Doubles: €60-103

This has been a long-time cheapo fave. We like the location, the cozy ambiance, and the loos! Grau will appeal to all ages and is an excellent value for your euro buck.

*Note that all the above photos were taken on site. Sure, they may not be National Geographic quality photos, but they are the real deal. What you see is what you’ll get.
