Original Review:

The Hotel Crayon Rouge is a colorful option, offering funky, wine-themed rooms in a super-central spot next to the Louvre and Palais-Royal.

For many years, this property was the Cheapo-friendly Hotel de Rouen, a EuroCheapo favorite given its convenient location and bargain basement rates. The hotel closed in 2013, and the property was completely gutted and transformed into the hipster Crayon Rouge, the "little brother" of nearby Hotel Crayon.

As with many other boutique hotels, the Crayon Rouge has a "concept". Here it's all about fun and funky design, and a celebration of wine. The 17 rooms mix up retro furniture (much of it sourced from Paris' excellent flea markets), and more expensive rooms celebrate wine themes (we'll happily check into the rosé).

All rooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV, private bath and air conditioning. Breakfast is available for an extra charge.
