Hotel Klassik Berlin

The snappy three-star Hotel Klassik is set in a high-rise on a busy corner in Friedrichshain. Guests are rewarded with tip-top service, affordable rates, and cushy lodgings around the corner from Simon-Dach-Strasse’s cafés.

In addition to white leather details, the Hotel Klassik’s 37 spacious guest rooms have been recently updated to a soothing, beige palette with plush rugs and huge built-in closets. Each room is equipped with a safe, phone, flat-screen TV and minibar. Air conditioning (which is not a common fixture in Berlin budget hotels) is only offered in some rooms, so ask ahead if this is important to you.

Some rooms come with a (narrow) balcony with sweeping views of Friedrichshain. For a peaceful night's sleep, request a room facing Revalerstrasse or the central courtyard. Otherwise, the rowdiness that unfolds on Warschauerstrasse, especially on the weekends, may pierce your dreams.

The well-lit private bathrooms are rather a treat. They are a good size and all offer toiletries and a hairdryer. Bathtubs are available (ask ahead).

The Hotel Klassik is a welcoming place. Its small lobby is lit by a glam chandelier, and the flashy, booth-lined breakfast room spills out onto the small courtyard garden. You’re likely to come across myriad music types at the Klassik, from fans checking out a concert at the nearby O2 Arena to musicians working with Universal or MTV, both of which have offices down the street. The Hotel Klassik is also a short stroll from the Spree River.
