Hotel Lleó

The Hotel Lleó offers three-star sleek, well-equipped rooms near Placa Catalunya. It's a polished act — and topped with a rooftop pool.

Rooms are equipped with air conditioning, a mini-fridge, phone, TV with international channels and safe. Some rooms have balconies looking out over busy Pelai Street.

All of the Hotel Lleó’s private bathrooms are spacious. They offer toiletries and a hair dryer, and some have roomy tubs. “Deluxe” rooms even boast Jacuzzi tubs (and cost a little more).

The Hotel Lleó has loads of extras that make it stand out, from a fantastic lounge area (where guests can check email under the light of an illuminated palm tree) to a billiard room. There’s also a bar and a café that serves sandwiches and drinks. But our favorite extra here is the cool roof deck, complete with pool!

The hotel has a free Internet station, and Wi-Fi is free throughout. Breakfast is served buffet style in the restaurant for a whopping €13 per guest. While the spread seems abundant (hot and cold foods, coffee, tea, juice, etc), you can head around the corner to an Irish bar and get a typical bacon-and-eggs meal for bit less—or grab a coffee and croissant almost anywhere for around €5.

Location

The Lleó is located on the traffic-heavy Pelai Street. It’s just a five-minute walk to Barcelona’s center (Plaça Catalunya) and all main transportation lines. This makes it very convenient, but also means that the streets surrounding the hotel can be congested and noisy.

Speaking of which, because this central area gets a lot of traffic, street-facing rooms at the Hotel Lleó get noisy (even without a balcony). We suggest asking for an interior room. We especially like the four special first-floor rooms that come with their own private patios (and since there’s no difference in the room rate, these are an excellent deal!).
