The Hotel Puerta de Sevilla is a sweet one-star property located near the Jardines de Murillo. The lobby is packed with do-dads like Spanish fans, an antique telephone and a piano.

While the lobby may verge on cluttered, the hotel’s guestrooms are elegantly simple, with white wainscoting, pastel-striped or floral wallpaper and buffed white marble floors. Each room is outfitted with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, telephone and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are private and equipped with a hair dryer, cosmetic mirror and toiletries.

A rooftop sun terrace offers expansive city views, and the hotel is located on the same street as several cute cafés and restaurants.

Note that the hotel’s address can be confusing: “Calle Puerta de la Carne 2” is actually set on the one block of Calle Santa Maria de la Blanca located between Avenida Menendez Pelayo and Calle Cano y Cuento. You’ll find the hotel entrance behind a public phone booth.

Santa Cruz

On the other hand, Santa Cruz is tourist central, so expect company while you're getting lost in Sevillian dreams and noshing on delicious—and expensive—tapas.
