Hotel St. George

If a dash of fancy sauce is your thing, you’ll find the atmosphere at the three-star Hotel St. George seasoned just right. Its location, right on Parnell Square, is good for anyone who wants easy access to, yet a moderate distance from, the pub hubbub.

Many of the hotel’s 51 rooms have been recently renovated. Free Wi-Fi and flat-panel televisions are a given. Rooms are done in a white-and-navy template, with desk units, tufted headboards, wall-mounted hair dryers and wall-to-wall carpets.

The private bathrooms don’t have too many bells or whistles. White tiles intensify the sense of lightness here.

The Hotel St. George dates back to 1907 and is housed in a Georgian mansion. Its lobby is dramatic, with rich purple carpets, overstuffed couches, and very high ceilings. Many rooms—although not all by any means—are accessible by elevator. There are a handful of smoking rooms on offer, and there’s also an outside smoking lounge.

From its location on Parnell Square, the St. George is within 15-minute walk of the Spire of Dublin, the Dublin Writer’s Museum, O’Connell Bridge and Trinity College.
