Located near the Oktoberfest grounds and a ten-minute walk from Central Station, the Hotel Jedermann is a popular budget-friendly pick that’s been run by the same family for more than 50 years. This is a three-star “business class” hotel that, given its warm reception, will make leisure travelers feel at home.

The Jederman’s 55 rooms are rather spacious, and most are decorated in a modern, if sleepy, manner, with white walls and standard hotel furnishings. The hotel’s 48 rooms with private bathrooms are equipped with a phone, radio, and TV. You may also find extras like USB chargers and LED mood lighting. Meanwhile, the hotel’s seven simplest (and cheapest) rooms are located on the top floor, share bathrooms in the hallway and have fewer amenities. (Cheapo option!)

While rooms facing busy Bayerstrasse will be noisier, these rooms also have AC, allowing guests to keep the windows closed (and the cool air on) at night. Still, light sleepers may want to ask for a room facing the courtyard or in the back building.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, but works best in rooms with private bath, and downstairs in the common areas. A generous breakfast buffet (with scrambled eggs and omelets) is included in the room rate.

South of the Train Station

The blocks south of the Hauptbahnhof, or main train station, feature a staggering number of hotels. Many of Munich's sex shops can also be found here, as well as a dizzying range of shops, restaurants, bars, and cafés. Far to the south, this area morphs into a genteel commercial district speckled with green boulevards and quiet side streets. The hotel-heavy part of the area is conveniently located next to Stadtmitte and very well served by public transportation nonetheless, allowing for easy escapes from the hectic tourist-oriented atmosphere.
