Pensao Praca de Figueira

The Pensão Praça da Figueira is a sure budget value, offering a wide variety of clean, pleasant rooms with low rates and a great views overlooking the square.

Once strictly a pension, the Pensão's 31 rooms have shifted from “budget basic” to “budget plus.” The pension offers rooms for the entire cheapo-range. Rooms on the second floor are packed with the most amenities, including air conditioning, TV, telephone, mini-fridge and private bath. Third-floor rooms offer a bit less, with just a TV and shower, while fourth-floor rooms are the cheapest and have just a bed and shared bath.

More than half the rooms look out on to the Praça, while the rest look onto a side street. Many of the basic budget rooms on the fourth floor have small balconies and awesome views over the square—ask ahead. Regardless of their configuration, rooms are spotless and pleasingly outfitted with pastel paints and bright-colored curtains.

Each floor at the Figueira has its own guest kitchenette with a full-size refrigerator, sink and microwave. A fourth-floor lounge offers a flat-screen TV and space to hang out. Oh, and check out owner Leonardo's photographs, which hang all over the pension.

Note: The pension does not have an elevator. Wi-Fi is offered for free, and breakfast is included in the room rate.
