Like its namesake, the 57-room Pension Dali is quirky. Placed inside a former 18th-century convent, the pension is accentuated with Art Nuevo tiles and elaborate stained-glass windows, along with reproduction paintings and photographs of Dalí, the famous Catalan surrealist artist.
Rooms at the Dalí are small and basic. Many have a sink and mirror in the room, but share bathrooms. Like almost all hostals and pensions in the Barri Gòtic, the Dalí is not flooded with sunshine or birdsong. A remodeling job wouldn't hurt, either.
Situated parallel to the important tourist vein, Calle Ferran, and one of Barcelona's main arteries, La Rambla, the Dalí is ideal for sightseeing and shopping. What's more, the city's Metro is almost directly in front of the pension, facilitating travel around town.
The pension's spacious and furnished meeting rooms are ideal for students and groups. Special breakfasts are also available for groups and there's a free Internet station for guests to use.
Note: The Pension Dali has no elevator, and the stairs are quite steep.

0.6km to city centerA maze of moody, touristy, twisty streets built atop the ancient Roman city of Barcino, the Barri Gòtic ("Gothic Quarter"), along with La Rambla, comprises the center of town. Charming gift shops, tacky tourist shops, cute cafés, trendy bars and a zillion restaurants line the cobblestoned streets. The Barri Gòtic is also home to Barcelona's 13th-century gothic cathedral.
