Located in an apartment building along a leafy side street near Sendlinger Tor (with its Ubahn stop and restaurants), the friendly Pension Haydn offers 17 rooms that could be a good fit for quiet budget travelers.

The Haydn is a homey spot -- underscored by the fact that the pension shares the building with a number of residential flats. Décor in the guestrooms is simple and colorful, with brightly painted walls, simple art, and laminate floors. Rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV, tables and chairs. A few light and breezy rooms have their own balconies.

Most rooms have their own private bath, although five rooms have shared facilities (although these have their own sink).

Haydn's breakfast buffet is served in a cozy little breakfast nook, and is included in the room rate. The proprietors live on site and are available for late arrivals. Wi-Fi is available for €3.50 per day in the rooms or for free in the common areas.

South of the Train Station

The blocks south of the Hauptbahnhof, or main train station, feature a staggering number of hotels. Many of Munich's sex shops can also be found here, as well as a dizzying range of shops, restaurants, bars, and cafés. Far to the south, this area morphs into a genteel commercial district speckled with green boulevards and quiet side streets. The hotel-heavy part of the area is conveniently located next to Stadtmitte and very well served by public transportation nonetheless, allowing for easy escapes from the hectic tourist-oriented atmosphere.
