Cheap hotels near Piazza Santa Croce in Florence, Italy
Piazza Santa Croce, located in one of the busier areas of central Florence and close to many sights, takes its name from the Basilica of Santa Croce which sits at one end of the square. It’s worth noting that the basilica, with its impressive facade, is the oldest Franciscan church in all of Europe.
While perusing the square, check out the can’t-miss sculpture of Dante, one of Florence’s most well-known residents. He stands prominently, poised on a pedestal in front of the basilica. For more information on visiting the Basilica, visit Santa Croce's Web site.
Head out of the piazza to find all manner of souvenir and leather purveyors.
