Cheap hotels near Plaça Reial in Barcelona, Spain
Located just steps east of the Ramblas (just south of the Carrer de Ferran), the Plaça Reial ("Royal Plaza") dates back only to the 19th century. The square, popular with locals and tourists alike, is lined by arcaded apartment buildings and cafes, and features palm trees, Gaudi-designed lamps and a bubbling fountain.
The square comes alive at night, as many bars and clubs lining the square. Each September, the square packs 'em in for the city's famous La Merce festival.
Cheap hotels near the Placa Reial: The "plaça" is located in the Gothic Quarter, home to many of the hotels that we've visited and recommend. Cheap sleeps can also be found along the Ramblas (one minute away), and in el Raval across the Ramblas.
