Cheap hotels near Rembrandt House Museum in Amsterdam, Netherlands
The house where Rembrandt lived and painted for nearly 20 years sits in between the neighborhoods of Plantagebuurt and the Red Light District.
While Rembrandt was successful in his own time, he never quite made enough money to afford the house and in 1658, it was seized and all his possessions auctioned off. The home opened as a museum in 1911 and the rooms and their contents have been recreated to appear as they would have looked during the artist's time.
Today the Rembrandt House provides a comprehensive collection of the artist’s etchings and hosts special exhibits. For ticket prices and opening hours, visit the Rembrandt House Web site.
