Cheap hotels near Tower of London in London, United Kingdom
The Tower of London, also known as Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress (what a mouthful!), is a castle centrally located on the banks of the Thames. Construction on the namesake “White Tower” was completed in 1078.
The Tower is famous for its prison, in use since 1100 (with very busy 16th and 17th centuries). The Tower even held prisoners during both of the 20th century's world wars, and opened to the public following a post-WWII restoration.
The Tower is open 9 a.m to 4:30 p.m. daily (10 am - 5, most Sundays and Mondays, depending on the season).
For more information, including exact hours and admission prices, visit the Tower of London’s Web site.
