Cheap hotels near Westerkerk in Amsterdam, Netherlands
The Westerkerk (Dutch for “Western Church”) is a 17th-century Dutch-Renaissance style church. The church is beautiful to behold, and its tower (at 85 meters) is the highest in Amsterdam.
The Westerkerk has been important throughout the city's history. It was here that Rembrandt and his son Titus were buried. Anne Frank could see the church’s tower from her window, and, year’s later, Queen Beatrix married Prince Claus here.
The church is open April through October from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The church holds Sunday services at 10:30 a.m. For a free concert, pass by on a Tuesday (between noon and 1 p.m.) to hear a carillon played from the church’s bell tower.
Hotels near the Westerkerk: Located on the border of Gractengordel West and the Jordaan neighborhood, there are plenty of fun and affordable hotels to be found within a quick walk of the church.
