EuroCheapo's Guide to European Rail Passes
Eurail Pass Overview

Did you buy insurance for your pass? Great—you're set. In the unfortunate case that you do lose your rail pass during your trip, here is how the insurance works:

1. You must file a police report once you realize it's gone.

2. Buy point-to-point tickets or another rail pass to continue traveling, and save the tickets or rail pass.

3. Once you're home again, you may submit a report to Rail Europe by sending the police report, tickets or new rail pass, the insurance voucher, and copies of your flight documents between Europe and North America. It wouldn't hurt to include a letter explaining what happened, especially if the police report is not in English.

Based on the information you send in, Rail Europe will determine the unused value of your lost or stolen rail pass, and refund you accordingly.
