Denmark: Budget Travel Guide

Welcome to EuroCheapo’s guide to saving on your trip to Denmark!

Denmark delights with its seafaring villages, cosmopolitan culture, and friendly locals — who, survey after survey find to be among the happiest in the world. And, given the natural beauty that surrounds them and high quality of life they enjoy — what’s not to be happy about?

Well, okay: the price of visiting can be an absolute downer. Those spic-and-span streets and enviable social services do have a way of driving up costs for those of us mere visitors to the country (who, we should note, also benefit from many of these services, as well!). For example, you can easily spend as much on one night on the town in Copenhagen as you can on a whole weekend in Berlin.

However, there are some tricks to saving. From museum passes to saving on transportation, biking, and meals, we’ll show you how to visit Denmark without losing all your crowns in one night!

Faroe Islands: Exploring beyond Torshavn

In the distance we saw a tiny island so inaccessible from the sea that no-one has ever lived there. And yet there is no-one in the Faroes who cannot tell a tale or two about Lítla Dímun, or its big sister Stóra Dímun which, contrary to all prevailing logic, is still inhabited. No regular ferry » Read more

Roskilde, Denmark: Small is beautiful

“Better Zamosc than Warsaw,” says our Polish friend, as she advises first-time visitors to her home country where they might profitably spend their first day or two.
