The Hotel Excelsior is a four-star boutique beauty located near Nice’s train station and a central tram stop. It’s a good pick for a romantic indulgence, and when its rates are low, they’re a good deal.
The Excelsior’s rooms are modern yet comfortable with LCD TVs, safes, mini-bars and Wi-Fi access. Some rooms even sport balconies (ask ahead).
The Excelsior's lobby and breakfast room evoke an airy, contemporary feel, while outside, a handsome facade, wrought iron balconies and a private garden provide old-world European style.
A breakfast buffet (for an additional charge) is served each morning. The hotel is also near the beach and the Promenade des Anglais.

0.1km to city centerThe area to the south of the train station and in Nice's center is full of budget hotels. These vary greatly in terms of character and amenities but generally provide basic rooms at very reasonable prices. Keep in mind that the area immediately surrounding the train station, like in many other cities, has a sleazy edge. The beach is about a 20-minute walk from the train station.
