Cheap hotels near Begijnhof in Amsterdam, Netherlands
Located off Amsterdam’s main Singel canal, the peaceful Begijnhof offers an oasis in Amsterdam’s Old Center. Considered one of the oldest inner courtyards in town, the Begijnhof was once home to a group of Beguine nuns. Its history dates to 1150 and today encompasses a series of restored row houses.
While the structures themselves are not open to the public, and in fact it’s frowned upon for groups to visit the inner courtyard, you will find that it’s easy to take a peek through the gates in order to get a sense of the history here. You may also visit the on-site church and chapel. More information can be found on the Beginhof’s Web site.
